Außerhalb schützender Mauern war das Leben im Mittelalter voller Gefahren. Ein Bollwerk wie die Burg Eltz bot dagegen eine feste Heimat. In zwei Folgen entführt "Terra X" die Zuschauer in die mittelalterliche Welt der Burgen.
Die Bergfriede der mittelalterlichen Burgen waren sichtbare Machtsymbole der Burgherren.
Die ersten Burgen des Mittelalters waren noch aus Holz errichtet. Ihre Geschichte und ihre ursprüngliche Gestalt rekonstruiert "Terra X - Mythos Burg" anhand von historischen Quellen.

Die Küchen und Vorratsräume der Burgen mussten gut ausgestattet sein. Denn eine Belagerung konnte über Jahre dauern.
Himmelbetten, wie dieses auf Burg Eltz, waren ein technologischer Fortschritt auf den schwer zu heizenden Burgen. Geschlossene Vorhänge hielten die Wärme oberhalb der Liegefläche.
Windsor Castle ist heute die wohl am längsten durchgehend bewohnte Burg der Welt. Seitdem William the Conqueror den zentralen Turm, auch Dungeon oder Keep genannt, im 11. Jahrhundert errichten ließ, wird die Burg ununterbrochen genutzt.
Burg Eltz ist eine der berühmtesten Burgen Deutschlands und befindet sich noch immer in Familienbesitz. "Terra X" erzählt in der zweiteiligen Dokumentation die wechselvolle Geschichte dieses Bollwerks.
